Non-Profit Does Not Condone Campaigning [Letter]

Head of the Emmaus High Angel Network says her group does not support campaigning by school board candidate Garrett Rhoads at recent electronics recycling event on the Angel Network's behalf.

To the Editor,

On March 23, Garrett Rhoads and the Eastern PA Business Owners sponsored an electronics recycling event at Willow Lane Elementary School. At a meeting of the Angel Networks of the East Penn schools, Mr. Rhoads offered to collect donations on their behalf at the recycling event, which he presented solely as a service to the community.

However, Mr. Rhoads used the event to campaign, both verbally and with literature distribution, for the East Penn school board. He permitted 2 other candidates to campaign as well.

As a nonprofit, the Emmaus High School Angel Network does not participate in any political campaign nor does it support or oppose any candidate for public office. Its mission is to provide resources for students in need. The Emmaus High School Angel Network wishes to clarify to the community that it was not informed that there would be any political activity at this event and disavows any association with these or any campaigns.

Sincerely,

Genny Baillie, President
Emmaus High School Angel Network
