Do I Need ID to Vote?

Here's what you need to know when you head to the polls to vote in the municipal election on Tuesday, Nov. 5.

The courts still haven't made a final determination on Voter ID in Pennsylvania, according to the Lehigh County Voter Registration website.

In the meantime, here's what you can expect to happen when you head to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 5.

According to Lehigh County Voter Registration:

  • All pollworkers will ask you for a valid photo ID.
  • If you do not provide the requested ID, you will be given information on the possible requirements for upcoming elections, according to Act 18.
  • Even if you don't have ID, you can still vote on the electronic voting machine. (Act 18 says those without ID need to vote on a provisional ballot, but this is NOT the case for the Nov. 5 election.)
  • All first-time voters will still be required to show a valid ID to vote on electronic machines.
