Leslie Heffron, Neighbor

The visual arts, painting and drawing in particular, have always been an important part of my life. I’m especially interested in how colors interact with each other on a surface, how they can create a sense of space and simultaneously create a sense of joy in the viewer.

I grew up in the farmlands of Eastern Pennsylvania and later moved to Massachusetts to attend college and to work. My imagery reflects both my background in PA as well as my current environs of Cape Ann. I’m a large- scale colorist and look to the work of David Hockney, Nell Blaine, Richard Diebenkorn, and Ed Ruscha for inspiration. I recently retired after working 43 years as a registered nurse, and now paint full-time in my studio overlooking beautiful Pigeon Cove Harbor.
