ReplyIt's not right that the letter had to be written, but let's face reality. This stuff happens. I applaud the principal for taking a stand, and I wonder what is wrong with parents today who think partying with their kids is acceptable parental behavior!

ReplyI think it is a personal decision that only an individual can make. To generalize and base any conclusive evidence on Sarah Silverman's decision is ridiculous.
Believe me, people who have depression ask themselves this question every day. They do so mostly because society places a stigma on mental illness.
Most people with depression don't want their children to suffer the way they do/have, and that is the main reason why people with depression ask themselves if they should have kids.
I think the answer is YES. People with depression can have kids. They need to be self aware and willing to seek help when necessary. They need to be able to help themselves even when they don’t want to.
They need to marry the right partner--someone who understands their needs. They need to surround themselves with friends who understand, or are willing to try to understand, their plight.

ReplyI don't think it's right to leave kids in a car in public...not even for a couple of minutes. I'd rather go back to the store another time or carry the sleeping child inside than risk it.

ReplyI have to agree. Kids don't need the most expensive toys to be happy. We are a one-income family and I can honestly say my kids are always happy during the holidays. We bake, drive around together looking at the lights, decorate, donate, etc. It really is the simple things they remember.
