"Oh, a suffering world cries for mercy
As far as the eye can see.
Lawyers around every bend in the road,
    Lawyers in every tree,
Lawyers in restaurants, lawyers in clubs,
    Lawyers behind every door,
Behind windows and potted plants, shade trees and shrubs,
Lawyers on pogo sticks, lawyers in politics!

In ten years we're gonna have one million lawyers,
One million lawyers, one million lawyers.
In ten years we're gonna have one million lawyers.
How much can a poor nation stand?"

from Tom Paxton "One million lawyers"

Reveal myself? If Batman removed his mask he would just be Bruce Wayne in a silly costume. The moniker permits me to expand my alter ego, a condition much like my superhero friends. I admit that the concealment is not to protect me or loved ones, but it permits me to deliver a message. My true identify would only muddle the message and invoke the usual bias and negative opinion that I seek to destroy. If you sense that you have superhero powers, you have two choices: Either wear the Spiderman mask and hide your geeky Peter Parker Identify. Or, reveal your Superman identity and wear the geeky Clark Kent mask. I chose the former. And, don't ever lump me in with anonymous-the term has come to represent a group of internet cyber guerrillas masquerading as digitized Robin Hoods.

Ever hear of the "Cardiff Giant" (it's worth a "google"). We may have uncovered our own. That particular coin was minted as a replica or reproduction by an Arkansas company in the 1990's. In fact, this particular coin was sold in 1996. Coincidentally, the sidewalks in that area were replaced in 1996. There could have been sufficient time for that level of discoloration or patina to appear; you would have to ask an expert. So, we may be looking at a hoax mixed in with someone's left over rib meal. History is not always what actually happened. It often is a complex intersection of truths, bias and hopes. That's why I am "another point of view".

I enjoyed your presentation. Please keep up the good work. I view history in an effort to understand me and my community. I enjoy many comments from people who are not from this area who spot those characteristics that make our community unique. The Penn family is not as benevolent as one may think. I think that is why EAston dropped all attachments-street names, etc-that linked the community. That is why I was surprised when the name "Neston" working its way into the current geography. The Penn family sued to recover Center Square a hundred years ago. They lost the case. (The county had failed to pay the annual rent- "one red rose"). The Lenape attempted to get even when they sued for land in Forks Township several years ago. They lost that case. I think it had more to do with politics and casinos. Any Lenape land in this area would have been carpeted with blackjack and craps schemes. The people of Tatamy should be thankful that their namesake had an Americanized shortened name. Otherwise they would be living in the borough of Tashawaylennahan, the actual Lenape name. William Penn bragged that he was good-hearted and kind and altruistic, because he treated his slaves well. What a guy!

Everyone should practice caution when ever they hear: (Never trust the person who makes these statements)

"I am from the government and am here to help"
"I am from your utility company and am here to help"
"I am from your bank and am here to help."

St. Lukes in their words: "Both the kids and adult clinics serve the uninsured and those on Medicaid and Medicare, officials said."
As far as the dental clinic is concerned: their words: "Hoping to help low-income Easton-area residents stave off cavities and treat toothaches, St. Luke's Hospital and Health Network has opened a dental center in the city's downtown."
It is great that hospitals have opened facilities to assist those who cannot afford medical care and lack necessary insurance. But, such facilities define the population of the community. If downtown were to develop a middle class population and move its low income inhabitants out of the downtown, I doubt that such clinics would remain open. Obviously the federal and state grants that underwrite these services would dry up.

I think that the movers and shakers of downtown have a difficult challenge. They need to address negative images and perceptions-parking, safety, etc. The selection of tenants either reinforces those images or suggests a transformation. An outpatient clinic suggests an image of a facility that treats the poor, a negative image. An upscale restaurant chain suggests a transformation for some. (You are probably asking how a hamburger restaurant can be upscale? Check their prices.) Is gentrification good? I think that is what people want to see in their downtown. It is not a matter of it being good or bad. It eliminates negative perceptions such as personal safety. Should we seek businesses and services that target the poor? I don't think that is the current objective of government. Can different economic classes coexist? Yes, that is the beauty of cities. But, Easton cannot transform unless it changes its image and how people perceive it. A paradox for all of us to ponder.

My comment is to demonstrate contradictory uses in the building. The best way to demonstrate contradiction is to use an oxymoron ie: "high end burger joint", Perhaps "healthy hamburger" would have delivered the same effect.

Interesting combination of tenants: A high end hamburger joint and a clinic which normally serves the economically disadvantaged. Perhaps the clinic will specialize in gastro-intestinal disorders.
