Sleeping Driver Nearly Hits House, Police Say

Her vehicle travels about 100 feet, hits two sets of shrubs and a house railing before being stopped by a tree, troopers report.

A Macungie driver who recently fell asleep and nearly crashed into an Upper Milford home was fortunate only to receive minor injuries, according to police. Dorothy A. Beck, 76, was northbound on Kings Highway S. at 2:11 p.m. April 23 when she nodded off, according to state police at Fogelsville. Her Kia Forte crossed the southbound lane, traveled 15 feet and struck shrubbery, then continued another 36 feet before striking a bannister in front of the home. After that, the car traveled 21 feet before hitting more shrubs, and finally continued on 21 more feet before colliding with a tree. The accident occurred near Lenape Park Road, police said. Driver Hurt When Car Hits Utility Pole in Upper Milford, Police Say

Cars tangle, pushing one car into a utility pole at an Upper Milford intersection, troopers report.

Two area residents were injured -- one moderately so -- recently when the driver attempted to avoid another vehicle that had pulled out in front of him in Upper Milford Township, according to police. Paul M. Fenstermaker, 80, of Macungie, was southbound on Kings Highway N. at 7:45 a.m. April 27, said state police at Fogelsville. A car driven by Garrett A. Horton, 20, also of Macungie, was headed west on E. Macungie Road and was stopped at the intersection with Kings Highway N. Horton stopped for a stop sign and pulled into the intersection, beginning his left-hand turn onto southbound Kings Highway N. Man, Woman Exchange Shoves and Kicks, Police Say

Both will be cited for escalation of argument at Upper Milford Township residence, troopers report.

An argument turned physical recently in Upper Milford Township, with a man shoving a woman and the woman kicking the man, police said. Both will be cited for harassment, according to state police at Fogelsville. The pair, unnamed in the report but listed as a 21-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man, began arguing about 10 p.m. April 23 at 3331 S. Seventh St. Extension, police said. Police weren't specific as to who started the physical actions, but the man pushed the woman, and the woman kicked the man. Police did not say whether either person was injured. Pair Steals Checks, Credit Card, Police Say

They used Upper Milford woman's credit card and tried to cash stolen checks, troopers report.

Two Allentown men have been jailed for using an Upper Milford Township woman's credit card and trying to cash checks they stole from her, police said. Anthony Jamel Slocum and Erick Manuel Chacon were unable to post bail after their arrests April 11, according to state police at Fogelsville. Police said they were investigating a burglary at a home in the 3800 block of Main Road when it was discovered that the men had stolen checks and the credit card. They made purchases with the credit card and tried to cash the stolen checks, police said. Police did not say how they became aware the men made the purchases and tried to cash the checks. They also did not say the amount of money involved. The two were being held in Lehigh County Prison, …

Business Reports Unauthorized Use of Credit Card, Police Say

The Mechanics Plus fuel card was used on several occasions at various Hess stations without authorization, troopers report.

Talk about a free ride. An Upper Milford Township service station recently reported to police that someone has on several occasions used its fleet gas card to purchase fuel at the business' expense and without its knowledge. A representative of Mechanics Plus of 4701 Colebrook Ave. said that its Hess fleet gas card has been used at different Hess stations in Lehigh County on several occasions without the permission of the business, according to state police at Fogelsville. A value was not given. The representative on April 11 reported the thefts and said they began on Jan. 12, 2013, police said.

Man Dumped Gerbil Cage, 5 Bags of Trash at Church Camp, Police Say

Evidence left behind points finger at trash dumper at Upper Milford church camp, troopers say.

State police filed the charge, but an Emmaus-area man may have to answer to a higher authority for allegedly scattering rubbish at an Upper Milford Township church camp. Brendan Trapp, 22, is accused of dumping trash about 10:30 p.m. April 7 on the grounds of Victory Valley Camp at 7472 Sigmund Road, according to online court records and state police at Fogelsville. He dumped several pizza boxes, five bags of household garbage, a dresser and a gerbil cage. The police report said evidence left at the scene led them to Trapp. Court records show that a citation for scattering rubbish was filed April 15 against Trapp with the office of Magisterial District Judge Donna Butler of Emmaus.

Hazardous Waste Barrels Dumped in Upper Milford, Police Say

Barrels contained transmission fluid, brake fluid and diesel fuel or kerosene, troopers report.

Someone recently chose a low-use Upper Milford Township roadside to discard their hazardous liquids, police said. Four 40-gallon, blue plastic barrels were left along Scout Road between Rock and Geisinger roads. The barrels were left between 10 p.m. April 16 and 12:30 p.m. April 17, according to state police at Fogelsville. The barrels contained water, automatic transmission fluid, brake fluid and deisel fuel or kerosene. Police did not say how full each barrel was or whether any of the liquid spilled. However, they did not report any emergency response or clean-up. The incident was classified as scattering rubbish. Anyone with information is asked to call 610-395-1438.

4 Hurt in Rear-End Collision in Upper Milford, Police Say

3 are moderately hurt in Wednesday accident, troopers report.

A three-vehicle rear-end collision Wednesday injured four people in Upper Milford Township, police said. The crash began when Matthew E. Ollikainen, 39, of Green Lane, Montgomery County, was driving south on Chestnut Street about a quarter-mile north of Colebrooke Avenue about 3:40 p.m. April 17. Ollikainen could not stop his minivan in time and struck from behind a Ford Edge driven by Matthew T. German, 48, of Collegeville, Montgomery County, according to state police at Fogelsville. German's vehicle was pushed into a Ford Crown Victoria operated by Michael P. Kapustic, 60, of Catasauqua, police said. German and Kapustic complained of head and neck injuries and were taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest by Macungie Ambulance Corps, …

2 Rescued from Upper Milford Crash, Police Say

One vehicle turns on its side; other driver is moderately hurt in the accident, troopers report.

Two drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles Friday morning in Upper Milford Township following a two-vehicle accident during heavy rain, police said. One driver was moderately hurt, and the second escaped with minor injuries, according to state police at Fogelsville. Police noted heavy rain when Theresa Bucco, 47, of Zionsville was traveling south on Chestnut Street at 7:32 a.m. Bucco lost control of her Chevrolet Trail Blazer and spun into the northbound lane, police said. The passenger's side of Bucco's sport-utility vehicle was hit by the front end of an oncoming car driven by Airfonzia J. Peterson, 43, of Douglassville, police said. $10,000 in iPhones Stolen from Walmart, Police Say

Two unidentified men walk out of Lower Macungie store with 18 iPhones in their cart, troopers report.

Two men literally carted away 18 iPhones worth $10,000 recently for free -- at least for now -- from a Lower Macungie Township department store, according to police. The unidentified men walked into Walmart at 3 p.m. March 30 and loaded 18 of the phones into their cart, according to state police at Fogelsville. The problem was they pushed the cart out of the store at 1091 Mill Creek Road without paying for the estimated $10,000 in merchandise. State police have recently reported the theft of 10 laptop computers March 17 from the same store. No value was given in that theft. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-395-1438.

I disagree. I watched a husband and wife with a baby walk our of a KMART into a rainstorm with a cart so full they had to stop at the door to adjust the load. I went to the service desk and told them. The loss prevention agent in the store just continued to watch them unload the items into their van and leave.
