Nursing Center Worker Allegedly Stole Resident's Medication

Police says she stole, then swallowed the medication from a Lower Macungie facility for the elderly.

A 36-year-old female worker is suspected of stealing and ingesting medication meant for a resident at a Lower Macungie Township facility for the elderly, police said. The unnamed employee at The Village at Willow Lane, 6488 Alburtis Road, is suspected of taking the medication prescribed for a patient, according to state police at Fogelsville. Police did not name the medication but said the incident was reported at 3 p.m. Nov. 13. Police did not say whether the employee has been charged. They said the incident remains under investigation. The facility offers a variety of senior living levels, from short-term care to independent living to various levels of assisted living, according to its website. Police: Medication Reported Stolen From Upper Milford Home

Zionsville pair say prescription drugs and $200 were taken, police report.

Two Upper Milford Township residents recently reported a bit of an unusual theft from their home. Identified only as being 27 and 29 years old and from the address of 5543 Walnut Lane, Zionsville, the pair reported the usual -- money -- missing, but also prescription drugs, according to state police at Fogelsville. Between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Nov. 12, $200 was taken as was medication, police said. A quantity and the type of medication was not provided. Dispose of Unwanted Medicines at Weis Markets on Saturday

Emmaus Police officers will collect old and unwanted prescription medication Oct. 29 at Weis Markets as part of national Take-Back Day.

Emmaus Patch residents can dispose of outdated and unwanted prescription medication safely as part of the third annual national Take-Back Day project. Medications can be dropped off from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Weis Markets, 1220 Chestnut St., Emmaus. Emmaus Police officers will collect medications. Police will collect prescription and over-the-counter medications including liquid products and creams in containers. Syringes will not be accepted. Officials say keeping outdated or unwanted medicines at home poses a danger to children, teens and older adults. In 2010, Lehigh County police collected almost 193 pounds of pills and capsules. In April 2011, the collection took in almost 1,008 pounds of medications.
