Here are a DIY project, a character breakfast, a neighborhood block party, a trick-or-treat extravaganza and a day of mountain biking: 1. It’s a Great way to Start the Month. Where/When: The Home Depot, Saturday, Oct. 1, 9 a.m. to noon, while supplies last. The closest Home Depot store to our area is at 1951 Glenwood Street SW, Allentown. Why Go: Kids between the ages of 5 and 12 will get the chance to build fire rescue helicopter, which looks pretty cool. Pricing: FREE 2. Here are a trio of make-and-takes, a pair of sporting events, a community celebration, and a fall film festival: 1. A Make-and-Take Doubleheader. Where/When: A.C. Moore from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sat., Sept. 24 and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sun., Sept. 25. There are two A.C. Moore stores in our area: one in the Airport Center mall on Airport Road (home to Target and The Christmas Tree Shop among others) and the other on MacArthur Road in Whitehall. Where/When: At the intersection of Fairgrounds and County Park roads in Gilbert, Pa. on Friday, Sept. 3 and Saturday, Sept. 4. Gates open at noon on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday. Why Go: This 90-year-old fair features everything from antique steam engines and Hall’s bear mountain wildlife show to quarter midget racing and a tractor pull.
