President of Lehigh Valley Tea Party says organization will still tackle issues despite presidential election outcome.
The presidential election is over and despite the outcome, the president of the Lehigh Valley Tea Party said her organization will "keep on keeping on." For the past two Saturdays, Tea Party members were out rallying the troops in Allentown and Bethlehem to get people out to vote. Barb Walters, the chairwoman of the 800-member Lehigh Valley Tea Party, said she was disappointed by the turnout at the polls, despite criticism and concerns that the country wasn't improving in the past four years under President Barack Obama's tenure. Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joe Biden, makes a campaign stop in Wescosville Monday to drum up support for the Obama-Biden ticket in the final weeks of the campaign.

Democratic and Republican leaders in Pennsylvania acknowledged that Mitt Romney did well in his first Presidential debate against President Obama, but their assessments of who did best in Wednesday night's debate fell along party lines. A judge ruled today that Pennsylvania's tough new Voter ID Law should be put on hold until after the Nov. 6 general election, according to an Associated Press report. The ruling can be appealed to the state Supreme Court, which said it would expedite any further action in the case since Election Day is just five weeks away. Do you agree with the ruling? The economy, jobs, military, foreign policy and education were just some of the issues concerning former Gov. Mitt Romney's supporters who came to hear the candidate speak Friday at Valley Forge Military Academy and College. Wendy Neininger of Willistown Township, a registered Democrat, is supporting Romney. In 2008, Neininger supported Hillary Clinton, but when Clinton lost the Democratic primary to President Barack Obama, Neininger changed her allegiance. Now, she volunteers at the Romney Victory Office in West Chester. Neininger is concerned about the job market and said college students are scared about the future. “It’s not just the older workers who can’t find jobs; it’s the younger workers too,” she said. Opponents of Pennsylvania's new voter ID will make their case Thursday before the state Supreme Court. There's no time frame for a ruling from the court - but the Nov. 6 General Election is fast approaching. The Supreme Court is composed of three Republican and three Democratic justices (a seventh judge was suspended while she faces criminal charges). A 3-3 tie would affirm the decision of the lower court, according to a Pittsburgh Post-Gazette report. Commonwealth Court upheld the law in August. Supporters say the law will prevent voter fraud and imposes the same photo ID standard required in many common circumstances.
