Fleet-Footed Local Scribes Pen Pair of Rodale Running Books

Husband and wife can run and write circles around the rest of us.

On May 1, after she runs the St. Luke’s Half Marathon, Sarah Lorge Butler plans on eating a piece of carrot cake at the Superior Restaurant in Emmaus. Admitting that athletes should not reward themselves with food and that she eats fruits and veggies at every meal, “savor” is a better word for what she’ll do to that cake. Her husband Charlie, whether or not he decides to run that day, will have a chocolate milkshake. Supporting one another’s efforts and celebrating their subsequent successes is nothing new for Charlie and Sarah. After nearly nine years of marriage, the two have accomplished a lot. Next month’s 13.1-mile race will join the pair’s other athletic achievements on a list that includes a combined total of nine marathons. Between…
