Wheels of Time Parade Travels from Macungie to Emmaus

Cars of every style, color and design demand attention as they cruise from Macungie to Emmaus.

The night couldn't have been more perfect as the fiery ball of sun set over Macungie and Emmaus. Restored cars, trucks and even a moped cruised the main streets as crowds anxiously awaited along the sidewalks, some an hour or two prior to the event. Tires could occasionally be heard as they "burned rubber" in a show of hot rod masculinity. Fortunately, no car fires erupted this year.

Energy in town. Lots of energy. When you walk around you can feel it. And the best is the boost for local business owners. I'll happily deal with a little extra traffic & crowds at places like the willows, sals, freddies, diner ect. knowing that they are getting such an important boost 4-5 times a year for the big fests.   more ›

Five Things to Know Today: August 24

What does Pompeii, Lawrence Summers and House Splendid have in common? They're all in today's Five Things to Know.

1. It's hopeful that the Emmaus Community Pool will reopen in time for the Labor Day Weekend.  It largely depends on whether a manufacturer can get a part needed to fix the pool pump to the borough in the next few days.  2. Did you know House Splendid in Downtown Emmaus sells "man handles" -- cabinet and drawer handles in the shape of figures? Check out the photo of them in the story about House Splendid today.     3. Quote of the Day: "In the history of the world, no one has ever washed a rented car." -- Lawrence Summers     4. If you see hot rods rolling through town today, you know they're on their way to the Wheels of Time Street Rod Association Jamboree in Macungie this weekend. Here's the schedule.        5. Today in History: Mount …
