First Home Run Hit in Lenape Park

This is the first baseball season there's an outfield fence on the lower field in Lenape Park, which Upper Milford Youth Association baseball teams use for their games.

Of course there was a lot of “news” in the spring edition of the Upper Milford Youth Association President’s Newsletter. After all, "news" is part of its name. But one announcement in UMYA President Matt Skekel’s May 5 newsletter mailing stands out among the rest – the first-ever home run was hit recently in Lenape Park. The lower baseball field in Lenape is UMYA’s home field, and new this season is an outfield fence, installed with the help of dedicated UMYA volunteers. (T-ball games are played on the upper field at Lenape.) The home run, Skekel writes in his newsletter, “hit to right center field which measures about 200 feet…pretty impressive for an 11 or 12 year old. Even the umpire of the game was excited to give the automatic ‘Home …

Congrats, to this player, whatever his name may be. Please excuse Emmaus Forever, some people are very shallow in what they find of importance. I'm sure this young man knows who he is and can, deservedly so, pat himself on the back.   more ›

Youth Association, Scouts Help Prep Lenape Park for Spring

Upper Milford Youth Association and Cub Scouts Pack 31 joined forces on Saturday morning to help prepare Lenape Park for spring.

Oh what a difference a day (or two) makes. There was surely a chill in the air on Saturday morning when players, coaches, parents and board members from Upper Milford Youth Association joined forces with Cub Scouts Pack 31, Old Zionsville, to do a bit of spring cleaning at Lenape Park. A chill yes. A couple of inches of frozen white stuff on the ground? Not so much. That being said, a variety of shovels were put to use -- perhaps even a snow shovel -- as an energetic corps of volunteers moved mountains of mulch via wheelbarrow to the playground areas within Lenape, where it was raked to an even layer under monkey bars, swings and the like. Those rakes also got a workout on the park's sand volleyball court, evening out a winter's worth of …

Emmaus, Upper Milford Youth Associations Seek Treasurers

Both Emmaus Patch youth associations are in need of volunteers to fill the position of treasurer within their organizations.

It’s a bit of an odd coincidence, but the Emmaus and Upper Milford youth associations have the same “Help Wanted” ad running these days. Both groups are currently in need of a treasurer. The Emmaus Youth Association (EYA) recently attempted to get the word out about the open position within its organization through a poster at the EYA booth at Emmaus Community Day. The ad for the treasurer position described the job as someone who will help to maintain books, prepare the treasurer report for the group’s monthly meeting and handle banking. Those interested in the EYA job are asked to contact the EYA president through www.eyanews.org. The Upper Milford Youth Association (UMYA) is using its Facebook page and its Web site to try to recruit a …
