Parking Complaint Elicits Apology From St. Ann's

St. Ann School and the Church of St. Ann respond to the 6th Street parking concerns raised by an Emmaus resident who addressed Emmaus Borough Council at Monday night's council meeting.

St. Ann School Flower Garden Dedicated to Sister Josepha

Student Council at St. Ann School creates flower garden in honor of Sister Josepha Meyer for her many years of service.

The Student Council at St. Ann School in Emmaus organized and created a flower garden to honor Sister Josepha Meyer for her many years of service to St. Ann School. All school students attended the April 25 garden dedication and prayer service. During the dedication, music was provided by the school choir, and the prayer service was led by Monsignor Mraz, pastor of St. Ann Church. A graduate of Villanova University, Sister Josepha taught in Catholic schools for 49 years, 20 of them at St. Ann School. She continued on as a volunteer at the school for many years. She currently makes homemade soaps for supplemental income for the Sisters, and organizes parish programs to feed and clothe the needy. She has been a Benedictine Sister for 61 …

East Penn Students to Compete in ‘Olympics of Math’ Today

Lehigh Valley MATHCOUNTS will be held at Trexler Middle School in Allentown on Feb. 4.

Students from Eyer and Lower Macungie middle schools and St. Ann School are among the 282 students from 28 middle schools from five counties competing in the 28th annual Lehigh Valley MATHCOUNTS this morning. The event will be held at Trexler Middle School, 851 N. 15th Street, Allentown, beginning with a written test from 9:15 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. in the gym. The top 10 scoring students will face off in the Countdown Round, a "Jeopardy" style oral competition, at 1 p.m. in the school auditorium. Organized by the Lehigh Valley Chapter of the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers for students in Lehigh, Northampton, Carbon, Luzerne and Monroe counties, the Feb. 4 event is one of 23 Pennsylvania competitions. St. Ann Student Flies High

Kaitlyn Carl knows aviation is important to Pennsylvania.

Kaitlyn Carl, a fifth-grader at St. Ann School in Emmaus, was named last week as one of 21 students across the state who have been recognized in the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation's avaition art contest. There were 900 entries. Carl won in the fourth- and fifth-grade category for PennDOT's District 5 which includes Berks, Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe, Northampton and Schuylkill counties. Entrants were challenged to represent the theme, "Aviation’s Value to My Community,” and Carl's entry depicts an airport, two planes and a control tower.  The winners' artwork will be on display in the State Capitol Dec. 12-16, and the winners will each receive a 16-by-20-inch copy of their entry and a certificate signed by PennDOT Secretary of Barry …
