Local police will collect outdated and unwanted medications as part of National Take Back Day on Saturday.

The sixth National Take Back Day drug collection will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 17 locations across Lehigh County including: You can dispose of capsules, pills, including pet medications, and liquids. Syringes or Sharps will not be accepted. Residents who dispose of medications will remain anonymous, as has been the case in the last five collections, and no questions will be asked. The amount of unwanted and expired drugs collected during the past Take Back Day events has been staggering. During the last five collection events in 2010, 2011 and 2012, a total of 3,269 pounds of drugs were collected in Lehigh County alone. More than $1,800 worth of bras were reported stolen from the Victoria's Secret store at the South Mall over two days. Salisbury police said a store manager reported the following: The store manager uncovered the second theft when she was showing employees what had happened the previous day, police said. She saw that the bras that had replaced the stolen bras were also gone, they said.

The official opening of the bright new Ross store at South Mall in Salisbury Townhip will be held at 9 a.m. today according to South Mall General Manager Brian Molchany. The store actually opened with a with a "soft" launch on Friday, Oct. 5. "It was highly anticipated," Molchany said. " We had so many calls as to when they would be opening." The national chain, whose motto is "dress for less," sells discount clothing and merchandise. At 28,000 square feet, the new Ross store follows its latest prototype and is larger and brighter than its other stores. The store was built where the former Gold's Gym and a vacant space stood. He will be taking pictures with children from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. today (Dec. 23) and tomorrow (Dec. 24) before he heads out to make his Christmas Eve deliveries.
