Count this as an apparent victory in the fight against scrap metal thieves. Police reports have been plentiful in recent years with instances of stolen downspouts, grave markers, copper piping and wiring, and just about anything that can be sold to turn a quick buck. Rashes of these thefts are particularly common in a bad economy, and the thieves can be hard to catch because they often strike in secluded areas. However, police this week arrested three juveniles at an Upper Milford Township home in an incident that might deter others. Something wasn't sitting right recently with a patron in an Upper Milford Township restaurant. Was it the food, the service or the company? Police weren't specific, but they said an Allentown man began cursing and spitting about 9:20 p.m. Feb. 14 inside Pickles Steak House at 3941 Chestnut St. His night probably didn't improve much after that either. Joshua T. Sewell, 27, of the 1300 block of 10th Street was charged with disorderly conduct for his actions, according to state police at Fogelsville.
