East Penn Kindergarten Registration Set for Week of March 18

East Penn kindergartners will register the week of March 18 at the school they will attend in the fall. The specific day depends on the school.

If you have a little person living in your house who will be 5 years old on or before Sept. 12 and plans to start school in the fall, you need to block off some time during the week of March 18. That’s when East Penn School District will be holding kindergarten registration for the 2013-2014 school year. The specific day of registration depends on the elementary school the child will attend (see below), but no matter what, registration appointments should run about 90 minutes and parents/guardians should plan to bring their soon-to-be-kindergartner along. This year, East Penn will continue its “green” approach to registration and will not mail kindergarten registration packets home unless a specific request for a printed packet is made. …

Emmaus Patch Offers Variety of Preschool Options

Word-of-mouth helps perplexed parents to find the hidden preschool gems in our area.

Kindergarten registration begins on Monday. Families with children who are five years old or will be five on or before Sept. 12, can get more information about registration on the district’s Web site. (I will be one of those wet-eyed mums standing in line at an East Penn elementary school next week, preparing my “baby” for the next phase of life.”) It’s also registration time at most of the preschools in the area and there are a lot of great options out there. Places like Emmaus Moravian Church, St. John’s and The Village School all offer preschool programs for little ones. And, I have heard great things about all of them. In fact, my older child spent a wonderful year in Emmaus Moravian’s program. The options may seem fewer for those with…

I agree with Sue's comments about Emmaus Moravian Preschool. Bev and Connie are amazing. They truly love the children and become like part of the family. They teach with love and kindness. Additionally, they go above and beyond to schedule interesting field trips and get the children involved within the community of Emmaus. They also work with the older 'pre-K' children through small reading …   more ›

East Penn Community Ed Enrollment is Way Down

Paperless approach to publicizing program to residents may be to blame.

East Penn School District is starting to realize that that Kermit the Frog got it right – it ain’t easy being green. At least that’s the case where the district’s community education program is concerned. For the first time ever, with the fall 2011 community education recruitment cycle, the district has decided to forego printing and mailing approximately 27,000 community education brochures to the households in East Penn, according to Nicole Bloise, the district’s community liaison. And, with the Aug. 21 deadline to sign up for classes less than two weeks away, East Penn is getting below average community education registrations, Bloise says. “I don’t have concrete numbers yet,” Bloise explains. “I can just tell by the number of checks …
