Flower Sale to Benefit Lehigh Valley Crime Victims

Annual flower sale will raise money for Crime Victims Council

Crime Victims Council (CVC) of the Lehigh Valley, a comprehensive victims’ assistance organization, is holding its annual Spring Plant Sale to benefit local victims of crime. The sale features hyacinths, tulips, daffodils, daisies, pansies, violets, mums and hydrangeas in a variety of sizes and colors. CVC also needs volunteers to distribute forms and collect orders at their companies. All proceeds from the sale will help support services for victims of crime in Northampton and Lehigh Counties. Lehigh Valley Flower Show Set for March 2-4

2012 flower show will open in Allentown's Ag Hall on Friday.

The 2012 Lehigh Valley Flower and Garden Show will return to Ag Hall in Allentown with exhibits and three days of programs on topics such as composting, native plants and butterfly gardens from March 2-4. The show will run: Admission cost is: The show will include 12 full-scale garden exhibits plus dozens of artisan and retail vendors. Ag Hall is at 17th and Chew Streets in Allentown. "Staging for Selling" Class Offered at LCCC

Learn how to stage your house so you can sell it

Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) will offer a variety of non-credit courses of special interest this semester.  "Staging for Selling" will be offered from 7 to 9 p.m. on two consecutive Wednesdays - March 21 and 28 - for $35 at the main campus. This class will arm participants with everything they need to know to accentuate the positive aspects of their home in a competitive sales environment. Bring 4x6 or 5x7 photos of your home to class - both inside and out. For maximum effect, take photos of individual sections of rooms as well as the room as a whole. 3-Week Home Repair Class Starts March 21

Learn basics of home carpentry, plumbing and electrical work

A three-week class in basic home repairs will begin March 21 at Lehigh Carbon Community College. The class will focus on home repairs for the resourceful and thrifty. Week one will feature carpentry followed by plumbing on week two and electrical on week three. A list of required materials will be sent out a week before the class begins. Average Lehigh Valley home sale price was $196,000 in January

The Lehigh Valley Association of Realtors reports home sales were up in January 2012 compared to the same time last year. “Pending home sales per month have increased over home sales during the same months the previous year for the past seven months,” said Andrea Decker, president of the organization. Real Estate Prices Drop in Emmaus

In an effort to explain the 15 percent decline in real estate prices in Emmaus Borough this year, D. Brad Patt spoke to the average person and compared the current real estate market to basketball. Last year, with federal tax credits, it was like playing ball with a big, oversized rim that allowed a team to roll up the points on almost every shot, he said. But this year the rim is back to normal size and it's harder to score.
