2013 Real Estate Market Poised for Growth

Housing prices rose in 2012 setting the stage for a stronger real estate market in the coming year

Home prices nationwide posted their largest jump in two years in 2012, according to a CNN Money/WFMZ report. That news comes following a report that November was another good month for real estate sales, according to the Lehigh Valley Association of Realtors. Year-to-date sales are recorded at 5,312, up 15.1 percent over 2011 year-to-date sales of 4,614. “LVAR members have reported that homebuyers are taking advantage of favorable market conditions and our extensive research puts solid numbers behind what we are hearing,” says Ryan Conrad, CEO of LVAR. “Our data, compiled from Realtors® throughout the Lehigh Valley region, indicates that home sales and pending home sales increased over the same time the previous year for the past seventeen…

Local Housing Market Continues to Improve

Lehigh Valley real estate officials say a housing market recovery is under way.

Lehigh Valley real estate sales improved in May, posting strong enough numbers to inspire a local industry leader to say "the housing market recovery is under way." Ryan Conrad, CEO of Lehigh Valley Association of Realtors, added, “Consistency in home sales and pending home sales increasing the past 11 months over figures at the same time a year ago are positive indicators. Year-to-date home sales have increased 42 percent over last year at the same time. East Penn Looks to Realtors to Monitor Enrollment Spikes

Housing sales are heating up in East Penn right now and administrators are watching the marketplace for hint of potential impact on student enrollment numbers.

Good news for Realtors in the East Penn real estate market translates into a watchful eye for East Penn School District. At least, that’s the message that the Superintendent of Schools delivered to the East Penn Board of School Directors at Monday night’s school board meeting. Thomas L. Seidenberger told the board that housing sales in East Penn are on an upswing, a situation that he and his team are monitoring closely in order to catch any potential spikes in student enrollment in the district that might occur in a particular grade level or at a particular school. “Things are heating up in East Penn, in just about every portion of this district,” Seidenberger said. “What we are hearing from real estate agents is that if a house is priced …

Spring classes at community college include backyard chickens

Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) will offer a variety of non-credit courses of special interest this semester.  A $30 class about backyard chickens will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Monday, March 12 at the main campus and on Wednesday, March 21 at Whitehall High School. Participants will find out how to become part of the new "urban" chicken movement - whether you live in the country or in town.
