Homeless Man in Viral Photo has Family in Lehigh Valley

Kirk Hillman, identified by multiple media outlets as the brother of the homeless man who was photographed being given a pair of boots by a NYC police officer, lives in Plainfield Township and works at an Easton church.

The family of Jeffrey Hillman, the homeless man who was photographed being given a pair of boots by a New York City police officer, is connected to the Lehigh Valley, according to multiple media reports. Kirk Hillman, who has been identified as Jeffrey’s brother by the New York Post and Yahoo!, lives in Plainfield Township with his wife, Tish. They both work at the Greater Shiloh Church in Easton, according to Kirk Hillman's LinkedIn page and the church's website. Kirk Hillman told the New York Post that he hasn’t talked to his younger sibling in about a year. “Jeffrey has his own life, and he has chosen that life, but he knows that our hearts and home are always open to him,” Kirk Hillman’s daughter, Alegra Hall, told the New York Post. …

Neglected Horses Recovering, Last Chance Ranch Seeks Donations

The 15 neglected Plainfield Township horses and mules taken to Last Chance Ranch in June are recovering, but donations are needed to continue proper care.

"Murphy, don't bite me," Chris Baringer, in a motherly tone, tells the 3-year-old brown colt nibbling on her arm. Despite wandering chompers, Murphy is well-behaved -- and showing signs of recovery -- one month after being seized from a property at 5326 Kesslersville Road in Plainfield Township. At first, Baringer, a humane police officer for Bucks and Montgomery counties, didn't have high hopes for Murphy's future. The horse had a leg wound that maggots were eating through. Bone was exposed. "I thought it wasn't fixable," said Baringer, who has worked for Last Chance Ranch, a non-profit animal rescue in Richland Township, for 12 years.
