Emmaus Grad Dane DeHaan Talks About 'The Place Beyond the Pines'

Local actor Dane DeHaan talks about his new epic crime drama with Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes now in theaters.

The latest movie—"The Place Beyond the Pines"—featuring Zionsville native Dane DeHaan is now in theaters. DeHaan, a graduate of Emmaus High School, talks about the film in a YouTube video interview. He describes the movie's "gritty realism" and calls it an "epic journey" depicting 17 years of how intertwining lives unfold. "You're going to go along for a ride and you have to be ready for that ride," DeHaan said. DeHaan, a native of Zionsville, graduated from North Carolina School of the Arts in 2008. A new crime drama starring Emmaus High School graduate Dane DeHaan has opened in select cities and will be shown widely starting April 12. "The Place Beyond the Pines" includes Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes, who play DeHaan's parents, and Bradley Cooper. Dane DeHaan says he's working out six days a week and eating 3,000 calories a day to bulk up for his role as Harry Osborn in "Spiderman 2." The Emmaus High School graduate is prepping for his new role after scoring a cameo in Steven Spielberg's Civl War epic "Lincoln."
