A recent Upper Milford traffic incident might leave one motorist yearning for the days of blaring car horns and the finger salute. True, these are impolite gestures and annoying in their own right, but the alternative was a verbal altercation that ended in the victim's window being smashed when the other motorist punched it, according to police. Christopher Matthew Reed, whose hometown was omitted by police, was driving on Main Road Road W. near Jasper Road about 6:45 a.m. June 8 when another motorist passed him on the roadway that was marked with a double yellow line, state police at Fogelsville said. Vehicle is disabled but occupants are unhurt, police say.
A Macungie-area driver recently lost control on a curve in Upper Milford Township, sending his car up an embankment and into a tree, according to police. Fortunately, neither he nor his passenger were injured, according to state police at Fogelsville. Marcus G. Dengler, 17, was traveling eastbound in front of 4402 Main Road West at 6:55 p.m. May 28 when he lost control on a curve, police said. His car skidded across the opposite lane, went up the embankment and struck the tree with the driver's side rear fender. Dengler's passenger, Matt Dengler, also 17, was unhurt as well, police said. Contractor and business hit by separate acts of criminal mischief, police say.
A contractor known for fixing things up will need a little help of his own after he discovered that mirrors had been broken from his vehicle recently in Upper Milford Township, according to police. Side mirrors were broken off the vehicle belonging to S.T. Knoll Painting and Paper Hanging at the listed address of the business, 5625 Baumgartner Road. The incident occurred between between 11 p.m. May 3 and 7 a.m. May 4, according to state police at Fogelsville. No value was given for the mirrors. In the other criminal mischief report, Bachman's Auto Repair of 5421 Chestnut St. reported lawn damage. An Upper Milford woman recently reported an attack on her home by someone with a paintball gun that left the residence splattered in paint and with a shattered window. Shannon Renee Miller of the 5400 block of Shimerville Road said the incident occurred about 9:45 p.m. Dec. 18, according to state police at Fogelsville. The home was hit nine times. Police are looking for a dark sedan with a wing on the trunk. The driver was believed to be in his late teens or early 20s. No damage estimate was given. One or more people were spreading something other than good cheer throughout the streets of Emmaus leading up to the holidays. Emmaus police reported nine incidents of graffiti written at locations in the borough betweeen Dec. 9 and 20. Locations included the 600, 800 and 900 blocks of Chestnut Street, the 300 block of Main, the 300 block of Broad, the first blocks of N. 3rd and S. 4th streets and at the Williams Street playground. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-437-5252. Police also reported the theft of a purse and unspecified contents from a vehicle in the 200 block of Ridge Street on Dec. 19.

Three are charged criminally, a fourth gets probation program, police say.
Four girls got into a melee at Emmaus High School on Dec. 1, resulting in charges and minor injuries, according to police. The injuries were treated by the school nurse, according to Emmaus Police Sgt. Charles Palmer. Two 18-year-olds were charged with assault, another 18-year-old with disorderly conduct and a 17-year-old was enrolled in the Impact Project probation program in lieu of a disorderly conduct charge. Names were not released for the three 18-year-old adults. Police also were called to the high school at 500 Macungie Ave. on Dec. 16 for a fight between two 14-year-old girls, police said. A youth reported to police that a masked man armed with a knife broke into an Upper Milford Township home on Nov. 14. The man was spotted by a juvenile of unspecified age inside the home at 5203 Homestead Circle, according to state police at Fogelsville. Entry and exit were made about 7:30 p.m. through an unlocked garage door. Nothing was taken and no one was hurt. The juvenile described the man as wearing dark clothing, dark boots, black gloves, a black ski mask and holding a knife, police said. The incident was classified a criminal trespass.
