A Macungie driver who recently fell asleep and nearly crashed into an Upper Milford home was fortunate only to receive minor injuries, according to police. Dorothy A. Beck, 76, was northbound on Kings Highway S. at 2:11 p.m. April 23 when she nodded off, according to state police at Fogelsville. Her Kia Forte crossed the southbound lane, traveled 15 feet and struck shrubbery, then continued another 36 feet before striking a bannister in front of the home. After that, the car traveled 21 feet before hitting more shrubs, and finally continued on 21 more feet before colliding with a tree. The accident occurred near Lenape Park Road, police said. Cars tangle, pushing one car into a utility pole at an Upper Milford intersection, troopers report.
Two area residents were injured -- one moderately so -- recently when the driver attempted to avoid another vehicle that had pulled out in front of him in Upper Milford Township, according to police. Paul M. Fenstermaker, 80, of Macungie, was southbound on Kings Highway N. at 7:45 a.m. April 27, said state police at Fogelsville. A car driven by Garrett A. Horton, 20, also of Macungie, was headed west on E. Macungie Road and was stopped at the intersection with Kings Highway N. Horton stopped for a stop sign and pulled into the intersection, beginning his left-hand turn onto southbound Kings Highway N. A three-vehicle rear-end collision Wednesday injured four people in Upper Milford Township, police said. The crash began when Matthew E. Ollikainen, 39, of Green Lane, Montgomery County, was driving south on Chestnut Street about a quarter-mile north of Colebrooke Avenue about 3:40 p.m. April 17. Ollikainen could not stop his minivan in time and struck from behind a Ford Edge driven by Matthew T. German, 48, of Collegeville, Montgomery County, according to state police at Fogelsville. Two drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles Friday morning in Upper Milford Township following a two-vehicle accident during heavy rain, police said. One driver was moderately hurt, and the second escaped with minor injuries, according to state police at Fogelsville. Police noted heavy rain when Theresa Bucco, 47, of Zionsville was traveling south on Chestnut Street at 7:32 a.m. Bucco lost control of her Chevrolet Trail Blazer and spun into the northbound lane, police said. One motorist pulled too far into the intersection in preparation of making a turn, troopers report.
Two drivers were injured recently when one struck another who had pulled out too far into an Upper Milford Township intersection, police said. Sharon M. Bradbury, 56, of Barto, Berks County, was driving north on Chestnut Street about 11 a.m. March 27. Her Pontiac Vibe struck a vehicle that stopped at a stop sign at Kings Highway S. and was operated by Sean M. Henderson, 28, of Mt. Arlington, N.J., according to state police at Fogelsville. Henderson was preparing to turn left with his Isuzu onto Chestnut Street, but pulled out too far and into the path of Bradbury, police said. A speeding car swerved to avoid collision, but was catapulted after hitting boulders, troopers report.
Two Wescosville men were hurt recently in Upper Milford Township when their vehicle hit large rocks, went airborne and rolled over end-over-end, police said. Tyler Lee DeLong, 18, was northbound on Route 29 traveling at high speed about 2 p.m. March 30, according to state police at Fogelsville. DeLong saw a vehicle crossing Beck Road in front of him and swerved to avoid a collision. However, DeLong lost control of his vehicle, crossing the roadway and striking two boulders with his passenger's side, police said. Snow caused slippery roads that contributed to a recent accident in Upper Milford Township, police said. A Perkiomenville, Montgomery County, driver was injured in an accident at 6:10 p.m. March 18, according to state police at Fogelsville. The other motorist was unhurt. Nicholas DiFrancesco, 21, was southbound on Chestnut Street when he slowed for the snow-covered roadway, police said. Three Emmaus youths were injured -- the driver moderately -- on March 17 in a two-vehicle traffic accident in Lower Macungie Township in which their car rolled onto its side, police said. Zionsville woman is slightly hurt, but does not require treatment, troopers report.
A Zionsville woman was slightly hurt recently when her van slid, spun and struck a tree on a hill in Upper Milford Township, according to police. Susan M. Kirby, 57, had a minor injury but did not require transport to a hospital after her accident at 6:37 p.m. March 18, said state police at Fogelsville. She was traveling down a grade in front of 4264 Mill Road near Shimerville Road when she lost control, police said. Kirby's Chrysler Town and Country van spun half way around and struck a tree. Police did not note weather conditions, but it was snowing throughout the Lehigh Valley around the time of the crash. Kirby received a written warning for driving at an unsafe speed for conditions but was not cited, police said.

Emmaus woman lost control on curve in Upper Milford Township, troopers report.
An Emmaus woman was fortunate to escape a recent wild ride and rollover crash in Upper Milford Township, according to police. Kourtney C. Kellar, 19, was westbound on S. Fifth Street approaching Plainview Drive at 10:46 a.m. March 12 when she lost control on a curve, according to state police at Fogelsville. Kellar's Ford Fiesta crossed the road, plowed over a tree, hit a boulder and rolled onto the driver's side. Kellar was taken by Macungie Ambulance Corps to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest for treatment of minor injuries, police said. She was charged with failing to drive at a safe speed, police said.
