Mackenzie Wins Full Term in 134th House Race

Republican Ryan Mackenzie easily defeats Democrat John Reynard in Tuesday's 134th House district race.

Republican state Rep. Ryan Mackenzie, who won a special election in April, defeated first-time candidate John Reynard, a Democrat, to win a full term in Tuesday's 134th House district race, according to unofficial results. In Lehigh County, Mackenzie received 16,441 votes compared to 10,883 for Reynard. In Berks County, Mackenzie received 2,688 votes to Reynard's 1,601. Vote tallies are unofficial until certified by county election officials. Mackenzie said: "I want to thank the people of the 134th District who have honored me with their support today. I also want to thank John Reynard for his willingness to enter the political arena and give voters a choice. Today was about a choice between two competitors, both of whom want only the best…

I want to thank Ryan for being a gracious opponent. I hope you can help make PA a better place to do business in general rather than picking winners and losers like happened through most of the first Corbett term. I hope you do well enough in your term off office both on the legislative side and the service side that you can have elections as safe as Doug Reichley used to. I don't wish this …   more ›

Largest Health Care Union Endorses Reynard in 134th House Race

One of the largest unions in Pennsylvania has endorsed challenger John Reynard over GOP state Rep. Ryan Mackenzie in the 134th House race.

The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) has endorsed Democrat John Reynard over GOP state Rep. Ryan Mackenzie in the 134th House race. SEIU is one of the largest unions in Pennsylvania and North America, and it is the largest health care union, including workers in hospitals, nursing homes and home care. It is the second largest public employee union.

This union is particularly disgusting, and it is not a health care union, it is a public sector employee union, designed to make the private sector serfs to their outrageous pension demands. Anyone associated with them is soiled badly.   more ›

Tell Us: Which Dem Should Oppose Mackenzie?

Who should Democrats pick to replace Patrick Slattery on the ballot for the 134th House district race

Now that Democrat Patrick Slattery has dropped out of the 134th House race, who should run against Republican Ryan Mackenzie? Tell us what you think in the comments section below. Slattery said last week that he's no longer vying for the 134th House seat that opponent Republican Ryan Mackenzie won in a special election in May. Slattery posted on Facebook that he has withdrawn from the race due to personal and professional constraints. Slattery and Mackenzie squared off in a special election to see who would fill the unexpired term of former Rep. Doug Reichley, who left state politics to become a Lehigh County judge. The two men were set to compete again in November's general election for a two-year term for the same seat. According to …

Ryan was just elected and by a very large margin. He's going to win again in November because he's been doing an excellent job serving our communities. He's from our area and represents us well. We should certainly re-elect him in November.   more ›

Slattery Out of 134th House Race

Democrat Patrick Slattery has dropped his bid to be state representative for the 134th House district

Democrat Patrick Slattery says he's no longer vying for the 134th House seat that opponent Republican Ryan Mackenzie won in a special election in May. Though he had heard "rumblings," Mackenzie said he learned of Slattery's decision while going door-to-door in Emmaus on Monday to meet voters. "Didn't you hear?" he said a constituent, who had …

Patrick, the turnout statistics that you cite for the 2012 primary are not surprising, considering the fact that the top two races in PA (POTUS and US Senator) were still contested on the Republican side but were completely uncontested on the Democratic side. From that, we can conclude that your failure in the spring special election was bad luck to be in this primary. Democrats had little of …   more ›

This is exactly why people need to get it through their heads, we need to elect people from our community, NOT politicians! Whenever somebody runs who is not a publicized politician, people laugh and vote for the choices the Party provides you, this trend only helps those who wish to control what goes on around you...and it works! You vote for their choices time and time again. We have got to …   more ›

Planned Parenthood Votes Spends $100K on 134th House Race

Planned Parenthood Votes is spending $100,000 on TV commercials to try to defeat Ryan Mackenzie in the 134th House race.

Local cable stations and WFMZ are airing $100,000 worth of TV commercials bought by Planned Parenthood Votes to try to defeat Republican Ryan Mackenzie in the hotly contested 134th House race. Planned Parenthood Votes is a Pennsylvania state-registered political committee. The national Planned Parenthood Action Fund administers Planned Parenthood Votes. Mackenzie is calling the ads a "$100,000 lie" being told in an attempt to try to "scare voters and buy the election," according to a media advisory he sent.  The TV spots attempt to tie Mackenzie to a controversial proposal to require women seeking an abortion to have an ultrasound. Mackenzie opposes the ultrasound bill, which has no chance of being passed into law after being pulled from …

$100,000 flushed down the toilet! Think about how many lives have been saved. After all, PP apologists like to say that tax payer money doesn't fund the ads or abortions, so whoever does wasted their money demonizing MacKenzie!   more ›
