The Emmaus High School Student Government Association plans running festival on May 19 to benefit victims of Boston Marathon bombing.
Special to Patch by Nina Rowan, Emmaus High School sophomore By now, most of America is all too familiar with the gritty details of the tragic Boston Marathon Bombing that occurred on April 15th of this year. Well, it’s less than month later, and already Emmaus High School is doing something to help. The high school’s efforts to help the victims of the tragedy began few weeks ago, when the EHS student government started selling “Boston Strong” t-shirts to students and faculty. This is the first baseball season there's an outfield fence on the lower field in Lenape Park, which Upper Milford Youth Association baseball teams use for their games.
Of course there was a lot of “news” in the spring edition of the Upper Milford Youth Association President’s Newsletter. After all, "news" is part of its name. But one announcement in UMYA President Matt Skekel’s May 5 newsletter mailing stands out among the rest – the first-ever home run was hit recently in Lenape Park. The lower baseball field in Lenape is UMYA’s home field, and new this season is an outfield fence, installed with the help of dedicated UMYA volunteers. (T-ball games are played on the upper field at Lenape.) The home run, Skekel writes in his newsletter, “hit to right center field which measures about 200 feet…pretty impressive for an 11 or 12 year old. Even the umpire of the game was excited to give the automatic ‘Home …
