Emmaus is a peaceful community but, like any community, it is not free of crime. Keeping the peace round the clock are the officers of the Emmaus police department. They respond to more than 7,000 incidents every year.  At full strength, the department has 19 full-time officers, two part-time officers, one animal control officer and two clerical staff. It also has a police dog. These officers work out of the police station, which was completed in 2006 at a cost of $2.5 million. It was built to replace cramped quarters in the basement of Emmaus Town Hall, which is right next door. The department is managed by Police Chief David Faust, with oversight by the mayor of Emmaus, who maintains an office in the police station.
