Where do you live? Macungie

Education: Undergraduate degree from West Chester University and an MBA from the University of Phoenix

What motivated you to get involved with Emmaus Main Street Partners ()?

Zayaitz decided to get involved with EMSP since he's had a business in Emmaus for 26 years. He's lived in the area since 1963 and loves the small-town atmosphere, along with the great businesses and people who live and work here.

Tell us what you do outside of the EMSP. 

I spend time with and visiting friends.

Tell us a little bit of history about your work history in Emmaus.

"I have worked in Emmaus for a total of about 35 years.

  • I bought the from my Dad in 1984 and ran it until 2010 when, because of ulnar nerve damage in my left arm and carpel tunnel in my left hand, the surgeon suggested I make a career change or possibly lose the use of my hand. I was lucky enough to find a buyer for the business. I worked with my father until his death in 1996 and my grandmother until her death in 2001.
  • From 1991 to 1995, I served on Emmaus Borough Council with , and several others including Otto Slozer.
  • I served as President of for six years and as an Elder for almost 17 years.
  • Also, I was President of the Emmaus Chamber of Commerce in 1989 to 1991 when it was still the Emmaus Chamber of Commerce."

Are you involved with any other groups or organizations?

"Emmaus Rotary Club - I am on the fundraising committee, and we just finished our winter fundraiser with the at the Agri-Plex on Saturday evening. We sold 700 tickets for the event."

What's your favorite place to eat in Emmaus and why? 

"I like different places for different things. I like for a great Italian meal, for great burgers the , and for a fun Friday evening I like ."

What's the best advice you've ever received?  

"Know what you don’t know," and "Hire someone you think will eventually be better than you."

Tell us one thing about yourself that others might not know. 

"I love Harley’s and cigars and not necessarily in that order."
