Music is the Essence of our Souls

This blog is for all things music. I am a huge supporter of the local music scene and I want to share my passion and love for music with everyone and hopefully you will feel the passion along with me.

What does music mean to you?

Music. What comes to mind when you think of music? Do you think about the kind of music you prefer? Do you think about how music makes you feel? Do you think about the lyrics? Do you think of days gone by? Do you think about the work that goes into a song before it tickles your eardrums?

Let me introduce myself. My name is Tracie Lovett and music is my LIFE! I breathe music, I live music, I would probably eat and drink music if I could. I moved to PA back in 2005 and was introduced to a world of music like no other-the local music scene. For some of you, you are probably saying to yourself "well the local music scene is no big deal." But for a southern girl, who never had the chance really to experience a local music scene, it WAS a big deal. And it is still a big deal to me to this day.

I fell in love with the music, all genres, from your oldies and classic rock to heavy metal and everything in between. I fell in love with the bands, and with the musicians individually as well. I was amazed by all the hard work, dedication, sweat, blood, and tears that each musician puts forth to their fans on a weekly basis. I admire them. I respect them. I look up to them.

Without going into great detail about the decline of the local music scene in just the last seven years that I have personally noticed (that is a whole blog in and of itself), I will say I realized in 2005 that my passion for music, local music more specifically, was too overbearing to just ignore it.  I have done many things or at least tried to (not tooting my own horn here), to help support the local musicians/bands and the local music scene as a whole.

I created a Lehigh Valley Band Groupie MySpace profile. Yes I said MySpace. I showcased a different Lehigh Valley band every couple of weeks. I turned my profile into that band's profile. It was great and the bands loved it but then the demise came and we all know the rest of the story on MySpace.

Last year I started up the Lehigh Valley Band Groupie page on Facebook with the same concept and principles that I used on the MySpace profile. Once again, it has been received well, the bands love it, and it is just my way to give that little extra support for them.  You can never get enough PR or promotion.

In December of 2011, I came up with another idea to show my appreciation to all the talented musicians/bands in the Lehigh Valley-the Lehigh Valley's first ever band calendar!! I tossed around the idea with a couple well known faces in the music scene in the Lehigh Valley and the project began- The Valley Rockers 2013 calendar. I am a couple weeks away from sending the final draft copy of the calendar in for printing. Excitement is mounting, anticipation is killing me, and I can not wait to share the finished product with everyone!!

But enough of me, back to the music!! I plan on blogging a couple times a week and I'll be writing about anything from my personal experiences, surveys, band interviews, upcoming events for everyone to follow i.e where bands are playing, what special events are going on, any special events that bands want me to bring to everyone's attention, you name it, I am going to talk about it.

I want all of you, my readers, to feel the passion that is alive and well in the music scene as much as I feel.

Until next time....Music feeds the soul ;-)
