BAND OF THE WEEK-Psych

Introducing...PSYCH!!

PSYCH first began as a studio project whose members all shared a common desire to write and record original music. Once in the studio together, after just a few sessions, it was evident that our combination of musical styles and personalities were something more than any of us really expected. After numerous hours of writing and rehearsing, we decided that we would test the waters and start playing some local shows to see how our music would go over with a live audience.

Our band was received well by audiences and we decided to give it all we have. We played a number of benefit shows, Live college radio
programs, and started our own website www.psychrocks.com. We also entered into a radio competition for original bands and were picked as a top 5 finalist. Then soon after, nominated by our fans into our local Music Awards where we brought home "Best Original Band".

At this point, things really seemed to be falling into place for us, so we decided to move forward with the release of our first CD entitled "PSYCH 101". The CD was released on New Years Eve of 2012 with a live performance/CD release Party. PSYCH has opened for national acts such as The Michael Schenker Group and Dio Disciples and headlining our own shows. We continue to write and record new material and look forward to our next album "Altered State."

Question 1: What three things would you tell someone that has never been to a Psych show to entice/convince them to come to one of your shows?

1. Go to our website and check out our music
2. Check out our live videos
3. We always make our shows an event!  For our upcoming shows for instance, there will be 5 Great local bands; FREE BEER (2 kinds on tap) all Day and Wood Smoked BBQ from Smokin Outdoor BBQ Tickets are $30, you could easily spend more than that at any bar and only see one band.  The place is really cool.  5 bands are: PSYCH, Social Call, Nuff Sedd, 5Ton Jack, Handel.  HUGE event & awesome Deal!  Check out Smokin Outlaw "Bands Brew and Que" Event on www.psych rocks.com.

Also we have the "2nd Annual BILLY BROCKETT MEMORIAL RIDE EVENT" featuring 4 Bands:  Gracys Trip, Psych, Angel Down & Fiveton Jack, and a photo opportunity with beautiful model Alisha Marie from Pittsburgh, PA. There will be a $200 cash prize WET T-SHIRT CONTEST, "Chaps Fashion Show" performed by the guys, tattoo artist on site, kickass bonfire, plenty of prizes and gift certificates to local businesses to be won. There will also be a Bikini Bike Wash with the girls from Spankey's East Gentlemen's Club. The money collected will go to The Valor Clinic Foundation who are a recognized 501(c) Public Charity and who passionately support our veterans, who have payed a heavy price so that we can have our freedom, with a portion also going to A.W.S.O.M animal rescue (also a 501(c) public charity), as Billy was a Marine and absolute animal lover. www.psychrocks.com click Wounded Veterans link for more info.

Question 2: What are three future goals of Psych?

1. Continue to write and record our second album "Altered State" with videos "No Funkin Way" coming soon!
2. Continue to plan and promote opportunities for ourselves and other bands by helping to participate and organize awesome music events.
3. Once album is further along, play more shows but less locally and more abroad.
