Lots to do in Emmaus this weekend to celebrate Memorial Day!

For those sticking close to Emmaus this holiday weekend, there are activities that are sure to be memorable...

Sunday, May 25th, 2014 - Emmaus Veterans Committee Rifle Salute and Taps: The Emmaus Veterans Color Guard rifle salute and taps will honor veterans buried in six cemeteries in Emmaus. Starting at 8:00 a.m., the group travels to Calvary (S. 16th Street), God’s Acre (Third and Adrain Streets), Moravian (Ridge Street), Lutheran Reformed (North and Keystone Streets), Northwood (Harrison & Keystone Streets) and Evangelical (Second and Ridge Streets).

Sunday, May 25th, 2014- Veteran’s Walkway brick installation ceremony at the Remembrance Garden at Knauss Homestead: (164 E. Main Street behind Cintas), 1:00 pm, Sunday, May 25th. For the eighth year, this ceremony is a combined effort of the Emmaus Veteran’s Committee and the Emmaus Commemorative Gardens Foundation. The program will feature speeches from local dignitaries, a rifle salute and Taps. Immediately following, attendees are invited to stay for the Remembrance Garden 10th Anniversary and volunteer thank you celebration.

Monday, May 26, 2014 - Emmaus Memorial Day Parade: Organized by the Emmaus Veterans Association, Catholic War Veterans Association and the American Legion, the annual Emmaus Memorial Day Parade will be held on Monday, May 26, 2014 at 9:00 a.m.  The parade begins at Emmaus High School parking lot, continues to Chestnut Street and ends with a brief ceremony at the Memorial Triangle located at 3rd and N. 4th streets. Rain location, 9:30 a.m. Emmaus High School auditorium.
