Stahl’s Pottery Preservation Society Celebrates 25 Years

The Stahl’s Pottery Preservation Society, Inc. (SPPS) will hold its .  But this year offers to be just a bit different. The 25th anniversary of both the founding of SPPS, as well as the annual summer festival will be a two-day event.

In addition to the festival, the public is invited to join in an .  Relax to live music by the Rob Stoneback Brass Quartet, hors d’oeuvres, a chocolate fountain, wine and soda.  See a nighttime Raku firing demonstration and take a tour of the historic site. 

A silent auction of pottery pieces made by participating potters will be held.  And a special exhibit of Stahl’s Pottery from the private collection of Brad and Deanne Hamilton will display pieces not generally available for public viewing.

Saturday’s festival features the sale of a redware sgraffito plate commemorating the 25th anniversary of Stahl's Pottery Festival made by Joel Leh, great grandson of Thomas Stahl. Also, a recently published book entitled "Stahl's Pottery of Powder Valley" will be available.

Thirty-three potters will be selling redware, stoneware, Raku, porcelain and other ceramics at the Saturday event. There will be activities for children, sale of Pennsylvania German home-baked goods, sale of SPPS collectibles and the sale of a limited edition commemorative 2012 redware ornament.
