This Week at Eagles Camp: New Faces

Philadelphia Eagles legendary broadcaster Merrill Reese noted many of the team's new faces for fans to focus on in camp.

Editor's Note: This is a weekly report every Friday about the Philadelphia Eagles in training camp at Lehigh University.

They are new names, new faces unfamiliar to fans attending Philadelphia Eagles

At a Wednesday, Eagles legendary broadcaster Merrill Reese introduced fans to a lot of the newcomers the team hopes will make an impact this season.

Meanwhile, injuries to tight end Brett Celek, wide receiver Riley Cooper and defensive ends Jason Babin and Trent Cole allow Coach Andy Reid to evaluate some of this new talent and they open up opportunity for others to strut their stuff.

"You are all going to focus on No. 7 Michael Vick, Shady McCoy, DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin and Jason Avant," Reese said. "But you're going to see so much more."

So Reese talked about some of the new Eagles in camp:

  • Bryce Brown -- Rookie running back from Kansas State packs a load. He was the No. 1 high school player in America. "He could be a real find."
  • Marvin McNutt -- Big rookie wide receiver from Iowa. "I wish I could have said McNabb to McNutt," Reese chuckled.
  • Nick Foles -- Rookie quarterback out of Arizona.
  • Fletcher Cox -- He's the No. 1 draft choice. "On the defensive side, he's big and imposing."
  • Vinny Curry -- Rookie defensive lineman. "He is a terrific guy and has great speed."
  • Mychal Kendricks -- Rookie linebacker will start. "He's going to make a very big impact."
  • Chris Polk -- Running back. "Another talent."
  • Brandon Boykin -- Rookie. "He's a defensive back with great return ability."
  • Cliff Harris -- Another new player, defensive back, who may be kick returner.

Reese also enthused about cornerback Dominic Rodgers-Cromartie, saying, "It's amazing how at every practice he just closes in on the ball when it seems like a receiver is wide open."

Reese and Eagles Insider Dave Spadaro answered questions about , saying that the quarterback needs to remain healthy this year.

"The key for Michael is not to hold onto the ball for so long," Spadaro said. Get rid of it and don't try to be a hero."

During the afternoon practice, Vick looked sharp running the offense.

He shouts out commands and changes plays, fires a pass to Jackson on the right sideline, one to McCoy down the middle and a perfect long spiral to Maclin on the left side for a touchdown.
