About Hurling (the fastest game on grass)

Hurling, often referred to as the fastest game on grass, is one of Ireland’s native Gaelic games. It is Europe’s oldest field game and has been played for at least 3000 years.

Hurling is played with a hurl (a wooden stick like a short hockey stick) that’s used to hit a sliotar (similar to a baseball) into a goal or over the goal posts at each end of the field. The field is approximately 150 yards long by 100 yards wide, over twice as large as an American football field. The game is quick, technical and exciting.
