Hornets' Football Season Begins With a Win

Emmaus High School defeated Germantown 35-12 in a strong second half showing.

The Emmaus Hornets football team defeated the Germantown Bears 35-12 on Fridy night. The hard-fought game became a blowout as the Hornets dominated the second half.

Both teams were in an offensive stalemate in the scoreless first quarter. Emmaus went on the attack to begin the second quarter and running back Khaleel Artis marched down the field to score the first points of the game with a 3-yard touchdown. Germantown would quickly answer with a 15-yard rushing touchdown of its own to come within one point of the Hornets at the half.

However, Emmaus would rapidly build the score up in the third quarter, thanks to Artis' three rushing touchdowns. Senior Darren Smith would also tack on another touchdown. Although Germantown would score near the end of the fourth quarter, the game was already out of reach.

COACH'S TAKE

"We started out slow, but we picked it up in the second half. We have to work on reducing penalties, fumbled kickoffs, and missed assignments. We neeed to focus on getting better. Great effort though."
