Snow Expected: East Penn Delayed Opening Guidelines

Here's what parents need to know in the event of a one-hour or two-hour delayed opening on Friday.

With a bit of snow in the forecast Thursday night, this seems to be as good as a time as any to review East Penn School District’s arrival guidelines for elementary school students in the event of a delayed opening on Friday.

East Penn parents already have one delayed opening under their belts this week – and a two-hour one no less – and reports from elementary teachers and staff are that there was a bit of confusion about who needed to be where and when. This confusion was especially prevalent among kindergarten parents, whose kids only attend school for half the day.

According to the East Penn School District web site, here’s what you need know about one- and two-hour delayed school starts:

The only day that parents deviate from this schedule is on Wednesdays, due to the weekly 1:30 p.m. dismissal time on Wednesdays in East Penn for elementary school students. In the event of a two-hour delayed open on a Wedneday due to bad weather, there's no AM kindergarten and PM students report to school as normal.
