Seven Gen Closed Again Today Due to Mold in Building

Staff and teachers are at work today. Students will head out on field trips for the rest of the week while mold remediation takes place. Their itinerary includes places like the Lehigh Valley Zoo and the Da Vinci Center.

According to a statement released by Seven Gen, preliminary environmental tests taken at the beginning of last week week confirmed the presence of mold in certain areas of the school. Because those tests did not provide conclusive information, more comprehensive tests were ordered throughout the building. The Seven Generations Board of Trustees and Administration .

The comprehensive tests conducted last Wednesday by two independent firms confirmed elevated levels of airborne Penicillium/Aspergillus mold group in five classrooms along the inside back wall of the school. Mold was also found in the basement of the building, an area not leased by the school. 

Remediation will take place over the next several days. Once it's completed, a post-remediation verification will take place, Seven Gen says.

“We are extremely grateful to our school community for their patience and ongoing support throughout this process,” Seven Generations Charter School CEO Susan Pfeil said in a written statement.
