Mike Bailey: He Likes Ice

Each week, Emmaus Patch will seek suggestions from readers for individual kids, youth groups, teens, and even sports teams that wow us with their accomplishments.

Name: Mike Bailey

School: Senior at Emmaus High School

Accomplishments: “A couple seasons ago I was named captain of our (ice hockey) travel team. We didn’t win the championship but we did go pretty far that year. It was really satisfying to be the captain of a successful team.”

Key to Awesomeness: “I’m not one that really keeps stats of myself. I did play in three Lehigh Valley Scholastic Hockey League All-Star games and I did score a couple hat tricks in games already. The most goals I scored in one game were four.”

“I’ve been playing for Emmaus for eight seasons and for the Bethlehem Blast travel team for seven seasons. I started playing organized ice hockey when I was nine.”

“I will be going to Temple University and majoring in business. I hope to continue playing ice hockey for the Temple club team, and for as long after that as I can.

“I recently became an Eagle Scout. My project was to refurbish a memorial at Kalmbach Memorial Park in Macungie. I also enjoy playing the electric guitar, playing lots of hockey and hanging out with my friends and girlfriend Erin Maurer.
