LCCC Offers Fun Summer Programs for Kids

Lehigh Carbon Community College will offer non-credit youth programs for school age children this summer. "Sports and Shorts" is for students ages 6-11.

Sports and Shorts is a unique camp that encompasses both an academic and athletic component. Seven one-week sessions, which offer both a Sport and Short activity, will be available throughout the summer. All sessions are Monday through Friday except for week 2 (no class July 4), from 9 a.m. to noon. All campers participate in their Sport from 9-10:20 a.m. and their Short from 10:30 a.m.-12 noon.

• Week 1: June 27-July 1 Soccer Endangered & Extinct Animals
• Week 2: July 5-8 Basketball Brainteasers
• Week 3: July 11-15 Mission Impossible “Sciensational”
• Week 4: July 18-22 Volleyball Archaeology for Kids
• Week 5: July 25-29 Kickball Math Whiz
• Week 6: August 1-5 Ultimate Frisbee Egyptology
• Week 7: August 8-12 Soccer Head Game Challenges

The fee for each one-week session is $75. Any additional materials fees are payable to the instructor on the first day of camp. Each week offers a program for children ages 6-8 and one for students ages 9-11.

In addition, an afternoon “camp-oriented” program will be offered Monday through Friday on the same dates. Optional P.M. classes are available only to students registered in the Sports & Shorts program and offer arts and crafts, games, movies and outdoor activities. Children should bring a lunch and a beverage. Cost is $50 for each one-week session.

Class size for all summer youth programs is limited, and registration is processed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
