Julian Stolz Resigns from East Penn School Board

East Penn School Board Member Julian Stolz announces his resignation from the school board via his blog The Stolz Report on Tuesday.

Less than 24 hours after declaring at Monday night's East Penn School Board meeting that he would not resign his post on the school board, East Penn School Director Julian Stolz did just that.

The reason for his about face? A desire to protect the woman he loves from the type of relentless online scrutiny and probing to which Stolz says he is typically subjected.

Stolz said that he will submit his resignation at the next school board meeting, which is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 28.

Stolz tweeted a resignation on April 1 but it turned out to be an April Fool's joke.

Monday's school board meeting began with parents and community members demanding Stolz's resignation after he admitted to having dated a 15-year-old Emmaus High School student when he was 20 years old and a seated school board member.

Stolz, now 25, discusses that relationship, as well as his interactions with teenage girls through a website known as TeenSpot, in his blog The Stolz Report (reposted on Patch).

Monday night, Stolz said that his relationship with the Emmaus High School teen was non-sexual, short-lived and during a different term of office. He said he had done "nothing wrong" and would not step down from the board.

On Tuesday, he posted his resignation letter on his blog.

"Anna started digging into Sahrin's (his girlfriend's) past," Stolz said in an text message to Patch. "She doesn't need to be subjected to that."

Anna refers to someone who posts online under the name "Anna Karina." According to Stolz, "Anna" has been his long-standing digital nemesis and is the person behind the blog thestolzreport, which parodies his own blog and often criticizes his politics.

"It is one thing to attack me, it is quite another to attack those I love. Over the past few days," Stolz writes in the resignation letter on his blog, "'Anna Karina' has continued her cyber assault not only on me, but also on the woman who happens to be the love of my life."

Stolz said that he broke up with Sahrin four months into the relationship because he was a school board member and he made the decision to put his political career first.

In apologizing to fellow board members on Monday, Stolz said that not putting his relationship with the young woman first was the only mistake he'd made. He and the Emmaus High School graduate, now 20, began dating again in May.

“I have never been in my life so in love, content and happy with anyone. I am truly blessed to have her in my life,” he said Monday night.

Stolz, who has been on the East Penn School Board since 2007, announced through a blog posted on Sunday that did not plan to seek re-election to a third term.
