Final Auditions for Emmaus High 'Legally Blonde' Cast Today

Rehearsals for this year's Emmaus High School spring musical 'Legally Blonde' should begin on Monday. Callback auditions for finalists for each role are today.

Special to Emmaus Patch By Chrissy Cilento, Emmaus High School Senior

After school Wednesday, I gathered in the Emmaus High School auditorium, along with about 60 other students, to audition for the spring musical "Legally Blonde". After devoting hours of our winter breaks to practicing and holding our breath for the moment when we took the stage, we auditioners can finally take a break...for now.

The audition phase continued into Thursday and finishes today when the directors will narrow down their choices for the roles.

After four years of doing shows at EHS, I was a little surprised at auditions this year. The process was altered, and to me the new configuration made things much less nerve-wracking for those auditioning. Instead of having to sing and act in front of all of our fellow auditioners like I've become accustomed to, the directors brought us into a separate room one by one to listen to our audition while everyone else waited in the auditorium.

Definitely a huge weight off my back -- even after performing in front of an auditorium packed like sardines, it's still scarier to sing for my friends.

Thursday was the second round of auditions, and the directors asked us all to be prepared with every character's song since they'd be telling us what they wanted us to sing on the spot. That meant back to practicing and holding our breath!

Today is the callback audition for the finalists for each role, then if all goes well the cast list will be posted over the weekend with our first rehearsal on Monday.

Definitely a long process, but I know it'll all seem to have gone by in a flash by the time opening night rolls around in April!
