Three Emmaus High School seniors were awarded a Regional Emmy on Tuesday by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Megan Famularo, Christina Cilento and Isaiah Zukowski created a video about the dangers of distracted teen driving for a class project in Communications 2, then decided to enter the video into the Writing category of the NATAS Mid-Atlantic Regional Emmy Awards. Juniors Bryce Haines and Sawyer Long also worked in collaboration on the project.

Many other video projects from the Communications 2 class were submitted to the awards as well. Emmaus received four nominations for awards in various categories. Senior Madison Wexler was nominated for the Young Producer's Award and Juniors David Pickett and Elliot Laubach were nominated for their music video and nonfiction film.

The Regional Emmy Awards Ceremony was held Tuesday in Philadelphia. Students from the Communications 2 class traveled to the Wells Fargo Center to find out the results of the contest. They attended master classes by broadcasting and television professionals and capped off the day with the ceremony.

This was the first year Emmaus has entered into the NATAS Mid-Atlantic Regional Emmy Awards. In the years to come, Communications 2 teachers Scott Didra and Jill Kuebler hope to continue to push their students toward excellence, hopefully with more Emmys on the way!
