Emmaus High School Robotics Team Heads to World Championship

First-place showing in New Jersey Championship earns Steel Hornets a slot in the April competition.

East Penn Superintendent of Schools Thomas L. Seidenberger dedicated a portion of his report at Monday night’s meeting to the accomplishments of the Robotics Team.

The Steel Hornets will head to Missouri in April for three days to compete in the FIRST World Championship Tournament, held in the Edward Jones Dome (home field of the NFL Rams). FIRST is a worldwide league with 1,500 teams and the Emmaus High team is one of 120 teams invited participate in the championship event.

The Steel Hornets received the invitation to the Missouri tournament after finishing first in the New Jersey State Championships.

“I just want to talk a moment to compliment the high school robotics team,” Seidenberger said. “I know they’re ready to show the ‘Show Me’ state what they can do.”

Seidenberger also offered his praise for Robotics Team Coach and EHS Chemistry Teacher John Bradley for the work he does with the team, adding that Bradley, too, walked away from the New Jersey competition with a pretty prestigious honor.

Our students submitted the name of their coach for the Compass Award, along with a video explaining why Bradley was worthy of the award – an honor that Bradley officially received at the New Jersey competition.
