East Penn Superintendent of Schools Thomas L. Seidenberger notified all East Penn School District families through a EduLink pre-recorded telephone call that Emmaus High School will remain closed on Friday, due to a bomb threat earlier today.
The high school and all administrative offices at the high school will be closed on Friday, as a precautionary measure, Seidenberger said, although the bomb threat is not believed to be credible. Law enforcement officials will be searching and sweeping the building.
In addition, all EHS day/evening activities are cancelled for Friday.
Afternoon activities at EHS were cancelled sometime after 3 p.m. on Thursday in response to the threat.
All other East Penn School District schools will remain open on Friday, according to the recorded message.
Really---then why close the school?
1) All students should not be allowed to carry their backpacks to classes. 2) All classrooms should have doors that lock from the inside. Currently Emmaus H.S. classroom doors lock from the outside, which means that innocent teachers would be putting themselves in harms way in a similar event to what happened at Sandy Hook. 3) All building entrances should be monitored at all times, including before and after normal school hours 4) All students and staff should have visible identification at all times when on school property
