Emmaus High School Congratulates 11 National Merit Finalists

Superintendent reports to East Penn School Board that all 11 Emmaus High School National Merit Scholar Semifinalists became Finalists.

East Penn Superintendent of Schools Thomas L. Seidenberger reported to the East Penn Board of School Directors at the board's Feb. 13 meeting that all 11 of Emmaus High School's National Merit Scholarship semifinalists have moved on to become finalists.

The 11 National Merit Scholarship finalists from Emmaus High School are:

  • Jessica L. Ackerman
  • Bryan J. Auvil
  • Lydia G. Brough
  • Brittani N. Gilbert
  • Jason R. Graybill
  • Michelle A. Lanshe
  • Andrew J. Licini
  • Solon C. Mao
  • Karthik Nataraj
  • Madeleine C. Smith
  • Emily A. Webb

According to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation Web site, the National Merit Scholarship program began in 1955. High school students compete for scholarships each year based on Preliminary SAT (PSAT) or other qualifying test scores and by meeting other program guidelines.

Finalists for 2012 were announced in February and scholarship winners are notified of their awards between March and June 2012, the Web site says.
