Emmaus High School Senior Wins 2012 Scholastic Art Award

Victoria Beck earns National Silver Medal in the 2012 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards for her drawing titled "Inner Grace."

An artist recently joined an an elite honor society that includes names like Andy Warhol, Sylvia Plath, Truman Capote and Joyce Carol Oates, among others.

Victoria Beck, an EHS senior, is a 2012 Scholastic Art & Writing Award winner, earning a National Silver Award for her drawing titled "Inner Grace."

This year, more than 200,000 works of art and writing were submitted to the competition by students in grades 7 - 12, according to Bonnie Raub, EHS English teacher and Public Relations representative. Approximately 13,000 Gold Key works were judged at the national level, and the top 11 percent received National Gold or Silver Medals.

Beck and her art teacher, Tracey Maley, are invited to the Scholastic awards ceremony at Carnegie Hall on Friday, June 1.
