East Penn Tests its Social Skills

East Penn School District recently launched a district-level Facebook and Twitter presence and is currently testing the use of Twitter in two East Penn schools.

East Penn School District recently made the leap into the 21st century by launching a district-level Facebook page and manning a district Twitter account.

With the 2013-2014 school year the district is also piloting the use of Twitter at the building level, with both Willow Lane Elementary School and Eyer Middle School establishing a presence on Twitter, according to Nicole Bloise, community liaison for East Penn.

In fact, less than two weeks ago, Willow Lane parents were told about the school's news twitter handle through a Robo-call from the building principal.

"The tweets from the schools are informational for parents," Bloise explains in an email. "At the district level, we are tweeting/posting information material, but we are also tweeting/posting student accomplishments."
