East Penn Seeks Community Volunteers for STEM Committee

Residents involved with STEM areas (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) would help district to develop STEM educational activities for all grade levels.

The is currently collecting the names of East Penn residents interested in becoming part of the district’s STEM Advisory Committee, East Penn Superintendent of Schools Thomas L. Seidenberger told the East Penn Board of School Directors at Monday night’s school board meeting.

The acronym STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering & Math, and the East Penn STEM group ultimately would work with the district in developing educational activities in those areas, he explained.

“We have put out a request for parent community volunteers to serve on STEM advisory board,” Seidenberger said. “These are people who deal with science, technology, engineering and math on a daily basis. We want to hear from them so we can develop appropriate problem-solving activities in the STEM areas for all grade levels.”

Seidenberger told the school board that 16 members of the East Penn community have already expressed an interest in becoming a part of the committee The district will continue to collect the names of those interested in being a part of the STEM committee for a few more weeks, Siedenberger said, and the next step will be to ask them to come to a coordinating meeting.
