East Penn Schools on 2-Hour Delay Thursday

The effects of an unexpected "snow squall" cause East Penn School District to implement two-hour delayed opening for Thursday, Dec. 12.

The impact of what the National Weather Service is calling a "snow squall" has caused East Penn School District to call for a two-hour delayed opening Thursday. Kindergarten is on a modified schedule.

Here’s what a modified kindergarten schedule means, according to the East Penn School District web site:

AM/Morning Students:
Ride the regular bus from home with pickup at the bus stop delayed two hours.

School will begin at 10:55 a.m. Students will be dismissed at 12:35 p.m., which is one hour later than usual.

PM/Afternoon Students
ride the regular bus from home with pickup at bus stop delayed one hour.

School will begin at 1:25 p.m., which is one hour later than usual. Students will be dismissed at the regular time – 3:30 p.m.

According to a special weather statement by the National Weather Service at 4:45 a.m., the snow squall could bring a "burst of snow and greatly reduced visibilities."

For the remainder of the day forecasters are calling for mostly sunny skies, with a high near 25.
