'Cinderella' is now 'Legally Blonde'

Emmaus High School spring 2013 musical has been changed to "Legally Blonde."

Special to Emmaus Patch By Chrissy Cilento, Emmaus High School Senior

Last spring it was announced that Emmaus High School would present "Legally Blonde" as the 2013 spring musical. A couple months later that decision was taken back -- "Legally Blonde" was out of the picture and a new show was sought.

For the entire summer, we lost sleep over what the musical would be. Then, around mid-September, Mrs. Kuebler and Ms. Cortez (the musical directors) announced that the show would be Rogers and Hammerstein's "Cinderella"... but, alas, just as everyone had adjusted to the switch, it was back to square one since the rights to the musical were revoked.

For about two weeks EHS drama students speculated and gossiped about what the replacement show could be, until Wednesday when Ms. Cortez announced to one of her choirs right before the bell rang that the musical was posted on the East Penn School District website. Never before have I seen so many iPhones whipped out simultaneously. Within seconds we all knew that the musical for this year is once again... "Legally Blonde!"

I'm not sure what exactly caused the flip-flop from show to show to show, but it's certainly caused a lot of ruckus. Since the moment everyone knew, all I've seen and heard have been statuses, tweets, and emulations about the decision.

As usual, everyone has already started hyperventilating over who will be cast and the other details of the show.

For me personally, I just hope we can make it to auditions in January without something else changing!
