Western District to Vote at Zion's Lutheran in April

Upper Milford Township's Western District will head to a new polling location for the April 24 primary.

The Judge of Elections for Upper Milford Township’s Western District asked the Upper Milford Board of Supervisors for the township’s help in publicizing the fact that Western District voters need to head to a new polling location for the April 24 primary.

Ed Prescott, told the supervisors at the board’s March 15 meeting that the Western District’s polling place has been moved from the building to due to traffic problems on Route 100 during the 2008 presidential election.

There are about 2,500 registered voters in the Western District, Prescott said, and there is typically an 85 percent turnout (1,500 to 1,800 voters) in a presidential election and about a 25 percent (600 voters) during a primary.

Letters have already been mailed to the 2,500 Western District voters and signs have been posted on the doors at the township building, Prescott reported. Plus, he said, the pastor at Zion’s Lutheran has agreed to announce it during his sermons and publicize it in the church newsletter.

“I want to cover this thing like a tent,” Prescott said.

Prescott asked the supervisors if they could run an article about the new polling location in the next Upper Milford Township newsletter, but they told him that the newsletter may not be out in enough time to publicize the new polling location. Instead, the supervisors offered to post an announcement on the township website.
