Vandalism Reported at Zoning Hearing Board Meeting
Resident Requests Change from Carport to Garage To Discourage Rock Throwing
The Emmaus Zoning Hearing Board approved on Feb. 24 a request to convert a carport into a garage at 749 Chestnut Street.
Michael Ahner, owner of the property, told board members that he wants a garage for two reasons. He said the traffic on Eighth St. creates a "wind tunnel" and blows trash and litter into his carport on the alley, Green Street, behind his home.
Ahner also said that kids through rocks at his cars parked in the carport and he wants garage walls for security from vandalism.

In July of 2007 Ahner requested and received a variance for the carport setback. The current variance is for a garage setback.
